Tas Röhamloveg was a tank destroyer project, developed along with the 44M Tas tank, based on the same chassis. It was started in 1944, when some of the officers involved in the 44M Tas design came up with an idea that it wouldn’t be actually bad to start a project of a heavy tank destroyer along with the tank development. They were influenced no doubt by the successes of such German vehicles, that were not only extremely deadly, but also cheaper to build than regular tanks. Their silhouette was also lower, they were harder to spot, easier to set an ambush with and generally suitable for the defensive warfare both the German and Hungarian armies found themselves in.

The 44M Tas Rohamloveg was a prototype Hungarian tank destroyer from the Second World War. The only completed prototype of the vehicle was made in 1944, but the car never entered mass production. The drive was to be provided by duplicate Manfred Weiss V-8H engines with a total power of 520 HP. The prototype was armed with a 75mm 43M gun, but they wanted to replace it with an 88mm gun. The secondary armament consists of two 8mm 34/40 AM machine guns.
The 44M Tas Rohamloveg was created as a result of the Hungarian army's experience of fighting on the Eastern Front with new Soviet vehicles such as the SU-122, SU-152 or T34 / 85, as well as in connection with the considerable successes of the StuG vehicles in fights with the Red Army. III. The new Hungarian tank destroyer was to be characterized by the lowest possible production costs, a low silhouette facilitating the camouflage of the vehicle, thick frontal armor reaching 120 mm and the use of a large number of elements already produced by Hungarian industry, which would accelerate the implementation of the entire structure into production. It can be concluded that the serial 44M Tas Rohamloveg vehicles were similar to the German Jagdpanther cars. However, as a result of the Allied air raids, the new car never entered production, remaining only in the prototype stage.
